LA ROQQA
When is a hotel more than a hotel? When it’s a belvedere, a social club, a culinary hub, a design icon, a cocoon. Overlooking the relaxed, authentic Tuscan harbour town of Porto Ercole, LA ROQQA is all of these things, but it’s also a portal – to the pristine seas and fragrant Mediterranean maquis of the Argentario peninsula. Opened in 2023, this 55-room urban seaside hotel and beach club has become the Tuscan coast hospitality splashdown that everyone is talking about.
Location, location, location. On the slopes of the mountain that cradles the bay of Porto Ercole to the south, LA ROQQA sits on a scenic rise between the charming port town with its restaurants, bars and shops, and the natural wonders that lie beyond. A short stroll in one direction leads to gelato and people watching on the busy quay. Walk five minutes in the other direction – and you’re on a breathtaking beach with a desert island vibe.
The ochre-red hotel puts comfort first and flies the flag for what we call 'new simplicity'. Good living doesn’t need to boast. It should be easy, genuine and vibrant. At LA ROQQA, this idea guided the interior design by leading Milan-based studio Palomba Serafini Associati, which nods with playful grace towards Italy’s dolce vita years.
The philosophy is also reflected in the locally-rooted menus of our rooftop bar and restaurant, Scirocco. Rooms are serene retreats, bathed in natural light, full of details that forge a link with Tuscany’s artisanal traditions and passion for natural materials.
New simplicity also guides the stories we tell at LA ROQQA. Stories of boats that take you to islands where ancient Roman mosaics still lie buried. Stories of Tuscan cowboys, countryside trattorias, artisanal cheese and wine producers. Stories of walks and cycle rides through pinewoods where deer browse in sunlit glades. Stories guests dip into as the mood takes them, told by a team that is passionate about quality, in love with this rich territory, and keen to grow and learn.

PORTO ERCOLE
Ex Cirio
Opened in 1926, the former Cirio factory specialised in sardine and anchovy canning. For much of the 20th century, it was Porto Ercole's chief employer, and even after decades of abandonment, stands as a proud reminder of the Tuscan port town’s industrial heritage. Now it is soon to begin a new chapter. The architecturally striking wellness resort and culinary magnet that is due to be unveiled here in 2029 will respect both the low, shore-hugging lines of its surroundings and its symbiosis with the town.
